Updates and Happenings

• Next week, the teachers officially return to the school building. While many of them have begun preparations in their classrooms, they officially begin a week of planning and professional development next week!

• We welcome several new to FCS teachers this year. For a list of our new staff, please refer to the August 5 newsletter at https://fcs.school/friday-newsletter-aug-5-22/

• There are a lot of valuable resources on our parent resource page. You can access them here at https://fcs.school/forcey-parent-resources/

• FACTS Parents Web (formerly Renweb) will be turned back on for parents next Thursday, August 25 in time for the parent orientation and open house events. You can see your child’s schedule and classroom teachers at that time.

• FCS will be having an open house for students on Friday, August 26 from 1-3 pm. Students and parents can meet the teachers, check out the classrooms, and see their friends. We look forward to seeing you!

• Our parent orientation dates and times can also be found on our website calendar at https://fcs.school/calendar-2/ As a reminder:

• Thursday, August 25
  • 6:00 pm: PreK3 and PreK4 parent orientation in classrooms
  • 7:00 pm: Large Group meeting in the church Sanctuary
  • 7:30 pm: Kindergarten parent orientation in classrooms
• Thursday, September 1
  • 6:00 pm: first through fifth grade parent orientation in classrooms
  • 7:00 pm: Large Group meeting in the church Sanctuary
  • 7:30 pm: Middle School parent orientation in classrooms

From the FCS Office:

• If you are currently using the older RenWeb Home App, please download the new FACTS Family App from the Apple/Android App store. The RenWeb Home App will no longer be available for parents after August 15.
• All About Lunch Update-AAL has officially launched their new website and is ready for orders.  September menus have been uploaded and you can begin placing orders anytime!  As a reminder, parents have up until midnight the night before to add/edit/delete an order. If you had an account on the old system, the basic account info/balances remained.  However, you will be asked to reset your password as well as put in new credit card information.  If anyone has questions, please contact info@allaboutlunchdeli.com.
• Parents, it is so important that you screen your students for illness each day before sending them to school. If a child has a fever, stomach issues, unusual cough, congestion, etc, keep them home and notify the school nurse at judith-bickell@fcs.school.
• Distance learning communication. FCS is an in-person learning facility. We’ve accommodated distance learning in the past due to the critical nature of Covid-19 but will be focusing our efforts on in person learning for the upcoming school year. As a rule, distance learning will not be offered. Exceptions may apply for extended mandatory quarantine requirements, on a case-by-case basis, approved by administration, with consultation from the nurse.

When I was teaching students before becoming principal, I would always start the year with this verse:

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. ~2 Timothy 2:15

 I felt this was a great way to focus the students on the year ahead, making the most of their educational opportunities, and to work hard so that they could be proud of their accomplishments.

We are excited to begin another school year and can’t wait to see the students and teachers in the building again soon!
