Service Project Update: FCS is having a renewed focus on service opportunities this year. We are excited to announce 3 initial areas of service focus for the 2022-23 school year.

  • Elementary students participated in a service project to benefit the Sarah’s House Homeless Shelter in Howard County. Together, the elementary students collected over 1,100 pairs of socks! I’m so proud of how our students stepped up to help those less fortunate.
  • FCS will be partnering with Image Makers Ministries this year. You can find out more about Image Makers Ministries by visiting https://www.imagemakersministries.com/ One area of focus is adopting Baltimore City Public School Sandtown-Winchester Achievement Academy in the heart of Baltimore City. More information to come about how we at FCS can support these students and teachers in weeks to come.
  • Operation Christmas Child collection dates are next Tuesday and Wednesday, November 15-16.

Mark Your Calendar

  • Keep up with important dates on our website calendar all year long at https://fcs.school/calendar
  • November 21-25 FCS will be closed for Thanksgiving Break.
  • December 19-30 FCS will be closed for Christmas Break.
  • School resumes on Monday, January 2, 2023.

Did you know that on Thursday, November 26, 1789, President George Washington issued a proclamation for “a day of public thanksgiving and prayer.” Sarah Josepha Hale campaigned for a national Thanksgiving in the United States during the 19th century, eventually winning President Abraham Lincoln’s support in 1863. President Abraham Lincoln encouraged Americans to recognize the last Thursday of November as “a day of Thanksgiving”. In 1941, Congress made Thanksgiving a national holiday.

I encourage you to spend some time with your children over the break and help them to have an attitude of gratitude. Ask them to verbalize what they are truly thankful for. Reminding them that at the top of that list is our relationship with Jesus Christ and His sacrifice for us on the cross. Through that sacrifice, we have access to our heavenly Father.

Have a blessed Thanksgiving!
